Advice: Embrace the change. With the birth of my first child I was adamant that nothing would change and the baby would fit neatly around my then way of life....there's nothing neat about parenthood. It turned out that for the first few years my life needed to fit neatly around the baby not the other way around. Once I embraced that, the ride became much more enjoyable.
Dad career highlights: Everyone talks about work/life balance. Parenthood is a heavy counter balance to work. Paradoxically I've found this to be a huge benefit to my career and wellbeing. Having children has made me treasure the most important career asset I have, time. I now get much more done with less, because I treasure what precious focus time I do get (usually at night when everyone's asleep).
